Osogbo – A cleric, Israel Adubi, the Senior Pastor at the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Itura, Osogbo, on Sunday advised Nigerians to be patriotic by respecting the country’s constituted authority.
Adubi, who gave the charge in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo, said those in authority must be respected in line with Biblical injunctions.
According to him, Christians must be obedient and support the government irrespective of the nature and brand of leadership that emerges.
The cleric explained that rebellion against the authorities was against the doctrine of Christianity and a flagrant violation of God’s law.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“Part of the fundamental principles and integral part of Christianity is obedience to constituted authority irrespective of who they are and what they do.
“As Christians, it is not for us to criticise any government under any guise whatsoever, ours is to pray for them to lead according to the God’s wish.
“That is why I always tell people to be patriotic aside being Godly. It is part of God’s admonition for us to respect and support constituted authority at all time.
“We should know for sure that leadership emerges in line with God’ wishes and purpose; He knows the reason why a particular person is in power at a point in time,” he said.(NAN)
