PORT HARCOURT – The Commissioner of Police in Rivers, Mr Dan Bature, has ordered Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to check the spate of crime in the state, especially kidnapping and armed robbery.
Mr Ahmad Muhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Public Relations Officer of the command, disclosed this in a statement in Port Harcourt.
The statement quoted the commissioner as saying that the command had deployed all available resources to fight crimes in the state.
“A water- tight operation was mapped out at a meeting where marching orders were given to all Area commanders and Divisional police Officers.’’
He said they were told to do everything possible and use all available resources to stem the tide of crime in the state with particular focus on violence ones.
According to him, the command has deployed policemen and patrol vehicles in
Port Harcourt to achieve the near zero crime target.
The commissioner also said that the patrol had started yielding dividends as four armed robbery suspects had been arrested in Port Harcourt by the patrol teams.
N1m cash, two AK 47 rifles, four magazines, 14 rounds of live ammunition, Toyota Avalon saloon and Nissan Sunny cars were recovered from two the suspects, the commissioner added. (NAN)
