Port Harcourt – Rep. Kinsley Chinda (PDP-Rivers) has called politicians in Rivers to support INEC to organise a peaceful re-run election in the state.
Chinda made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Monday.
He said that the issue of non-representation both at the state and national assemblies would endanger true democracy, if not quickly addressed.
The lawmaker urged politicians and relevant stakeholders in the state to cooperate with INEC to ensure a peaceful rerun election.
Chinda criticised the rumoured printing of fake INEC result sheets by some desperate politicians in the state to rig the election.
He urged those involved in any act that could truncate democracy in the state to desist forthwith.
While describing the act as shameful, Chinda called on security agencies to investigate the matter and punish whoever was involved.
However, the lawmaker lauded the Senate for asking INEC to complete all outstanding elections in the country.
