In the early hours of Monday, a hotel in the Alagbado area of Lagos State was targeted by armed robbers, resulting in injuries to several lodgers and staff members.
According to reports, the assailants, believed to be part of a nine-member gang from Agbara in Ogun State, held occupants of the hotel captive during the invasion. Three workers sustained gunshot wounds during the ordeal.
Prompt action by the Alagbado police station, upon receiving a distress call around 3 am, helped thwart what could have been a more violent incident.
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the attack and the subsequent arrest of two suspects. The police recovered various items from the apprehended individuals, including firearms, mobile phones, cash, and personal belongings of the victims.
The police disclosed that the robbers injured two lodgers before law enforcement intervened. Preliminary investigations indicate the involvement of a nine-member gang originating from Agbara.
The injured victims were promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Superintendent Hundeyin assured the public that the police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring safety and security in the area.
