Moscow – The Russian Emergencies Ministry said on Thursday in Moscow that government has sent 30 tons of humanitarian aid to quake-hit Ecuado.
The ministry said in a statement that a Russian Il-76 aircraft delivered foodstuffs, tents and mobile power plants to Ecuador under the ruling of the Russian president.
Meanwhile, the 7.8-magnitude quake, the strongest to jolt Ecuador since 1979, has by late Wednesday claimed 553 lives.
It also injured more than 4,000 others, destroyed over 800 buildings and ripped off roads of some 1,000 km long when it struck on Saturday. (Xinhua/NAN)
