ABUJA – A 19-year-old sales boy, Eche Chidiebere, was on Friday charged before a Gudu Upper Area Court in the FCT, for allegedly stealing his master’s N1.8 million.
Chidiebere of Shafa Plaza, Area 1 Junction, Abuja, is being tried for theft.
The prosecutor, Insp. Steve Okwuagbor, told the court that Mr Augustine Chukwujogu of the same address reported the matter at the Durumi police station on Sept. 24.
According to him, the accused, who is a sales boy to Chukwujogu, stole the complainant’s N1.8 million from his shop.
[eap_ad_2] He also said that during police investigation, the accused could not give satisfactory reasons for his action.
The offence contravened the provision of Section 289 of the Penal Code, he said.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Presiding Officer, Malam Umar Kagarko, admitted the accused to a bail of N1.9 million with a surety in like sum.
He said the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction as part of the bail conditions.
Kagarko also said that the prosecutor must know the address of the surety.
He adjourned the case to Nov. 10 for further hearing. (NAN)
