Kaduna, – A 24-year-old man, David Clement, was on Thursday docked in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing beverages worth N1 million from a supermarket.
The police charged Clemen, who lives in Barnawa, Kaduna with theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 14, at the Savior’s Supermarket located on Ethopia Road, Barnawa.
The prosecutor said that the defendant who is a sales representative of the supermarket, was caught on the CCTV making sales worth N1million and did not remit the money.
The offence, Leo said, contravenes the provisions of Section 271 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge .
The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Dec. 18 for hearing.(NAN)
