Kano, – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kano State has deployed 850 personnel for effective patrol to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Ibrahim Abubakar disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Thursday.
He said the personnel comprised of 500 “regular marshals while the remaining 350 are special marshals.
Similarly, he said 13 patrol vehicles, two ambulances and one towing truck would be deployed for the Eid-El-Kabir Special operation in the state.
Abubakar said the personnel had been deployed to strategic places to ensure free flow of traffic across the state to prevent road traffic clashes.
“The personnel will ensure rapid response to road traffic crashes and quick removal of road obstructions.
He said the operation would focus on hitch-free traffic flow, prevention of road traffic crashes, providing rapid response to road traffic crashes and quick removal of road obstructions.
He said the operation will target overloading, overspeeding, underage driving, route violation, drink driving, use of phone while driving, wrongful overtaking, worn out tyres, lane discipline and drivers licence.
Abubakar added that the personnel in the special operation would ensure constant highway patrol, traffic control, crowd control at Eid prayer ground, 24 hours stand-by teams, public sensitisation and clearing of obstructions.
He urged motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations and report cases of road obstructions and road traffic crashes to the nearest FRSC unit in the state for prompt action.
