Security guard docked over negligence of duty

Abuja –  The police on Wednesday arraigned a security guard, Titus Otokpa, in a Wuse Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on a one-count charge of negligence of duty.

The accused, a staff of Tata Security Guards, Utako, Abuja, is facing the charge of negligence, as it paved way for thieves to steal in the premises.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Umar Ango, told the court that the matter was reported by one Ayila Anifowoshe, at the Maitama Police Station, Abuja, on May 19.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He said that the accused abandoned his duty post, which gave the thieves easy access to the premises to steal a Samsung plasma TV, and two HP laptops valued at N140, 000, belonging to Anifowoshe.

Ango said the crime contravened the provisions of Sections 79 and 196 of the Penal Code.

The accused pleaded not guilty and
Senior Magistrate Khadijat Mustapha, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 and one surety in like sum, and adjourned the matter till Oct.8 for hearing. (NAN)
