Security guard in court for alleged negligent conduct

Abuja   –    The Police on Thursday arraigned a 32-year-old Ifeanyi Oko, in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for an alleged negligent conduct.

The defendant, who resides at Karmo village, is standing trial on a count charge, offence he denied committing.

The prosecutor, Zannan Dalhatu, told the court that one Abdullahi Muhammed, an accountant with Summit Villa Hotel, Life Camp Abuja, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, on Feb. 14.

The complainant alleged that the defendant on Jan. 29, discovered that three LG television sets, valued at N285, 000, were stolen from three rooms while he was on duty.

According to him, his negligence allowed thieves to steal the television sets.

Dalhatu said that the offence contravened Section 196 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000, with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until March 19, for hearing.
