Al-Hassan
JALINGO – Sen. Aisha Al-Hassan, governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress in Taraba, has promised to pay attention to rural development if elected in 2015.
She told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jalingo on Saturday that only an aggressive grassroots development approach would fast track progress in lifting the lives of the majority of residents of the state.
“The majority of our people live in the rural areas. Therefore, the concentration of projects and programmes of our government should be at the grassroots’’, she said.
Al-Hassan called on the people to come out en masse to vote for the APC in the 2015 general elections in order to effect the desired change in Taraba.
Al-Hassan, who defeated former Gov. Jolly Nyame in the Senatorial election of 2011, won the APC governorship primaries with a landslide.
She scored 2,425 votes to beat Ibrahim Tumba, Dr Julde Suleiman and Yusufu Akirinkwe who polled 18, five and 14 votes respectively.
Alhassan is so far the only female in the country who will be contesting for state governorship seat in 2015. (NAN)
