Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Confederation of All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups has called on the senators-elect to elect Sen. Abdulaziz Yari as Senate President of the 10th National Assembly to balance positions in the three arms of government.

Its Director-General, Dr Kailani Muhammed gave the advice on Saturday at a news conference in Abuja.

Muhammed appealed to senators-elect to elect Yari in the spirit of fairness and equity to balance in equation of the three arms of government.

“I like to call on all our members that on Tuesday the 13th, June 2023 they should be at the National Assembly to support our principal, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari for the President of the 10th Senate.

“So far, We have 73 senators behind us. Though we are not against our South brothers and sisters but fairness and equity must come to play.

The President and Chief Justice of Nigeria are from the South. These two arms of government come from the southern part of Nigeria.

“What we are saying is that the remaining one arm which is National Assembly should come from the North,” group’s chief said.

He said that APC from the north sould be given the position of the President of the 10th senate followed 5.5 million votes the party got from the north during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

“We brought 5.5 million votes from the north. The whole South-West gave us 2.2 million votes. South-East gave us only 40,000 votes and South-South where Sen. Godswill Akpabio who wants to become the Senate President comes from gave us 700,000 votes.

“For Akwa Ibom, his (Akpabio) own state gave us 160,000 votes while Zamfara state where Sen. Yari comes from gave us almost one million votes.

“So, what are we talking about. We must come together, we need unity in diversity in this country.

“We need to be our brothers keepers and we have to go for Sen. Yari so that there will be balance in equation of the three arms of government if they want to be very fair to us,” he said.

He also commended President Bola Tinubu for for suspending the Central Bank Governor of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele, saying the president’s action would assist in restructuring the nation’s apex financial institution.

“We give kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for suspending the Central Bank Governor of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele.

“We want the Federal Government to investigate his office because government’s money is meant for me and you and our next generation,” Muhammmed said.

According to him, there is need to review our laws and bring in the Holy Quran and the Holy Bible to guide us in this country so that we can reach greater height

“If you are a Christian or Muslim, you believe that one day you are going to die. You believe that there is creator. If you are entrusted with a position, you will do it to the best of your knowledge.

“This is because you know you are going to give your stewardship when you die. If we can use Holy Bible and Holy Quran, things will go very well in Nigeria.

“These two books, once we follow them, Nigeria will become a great country. We need to review our laws and bring in the Holy Quran and Bible to guide us in this country so that we can reach greater height.”
