Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to competence rather that experience and ranking should be the deciding factor on who becomes the President of the 10th Senate.
This is also as he has Urges APC to prioritise South-East in Zoning considerations for the Senate Presidency seat for the sake of equity.
Umahi, who made the plea on Tuesday after a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja, argued that the inadequacy of votes from the South-East should not be a deterrent.
The governor urged the party to show understanding, underscoring that he fought for the APC, in spite of criticisms even at the peak of the EndSARS protests.
He added that it was his conviction that it was the turn of the South to produce the next president.
According to Umahi, the subject of competence rather than ranking or experience should be made the superior argument in the choice of who should emerge the leader of the Senate in the 10th National Assembly.
