Sokoto – Alhaji Umaru Abdullahi, an industrialist in Sokoto, on Friday called on the Federal Government to sensitise Nigerians on the reasons behind the removal of subsidy on petrol.

Abdullahi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that educating Nigerians on likely gains from deregulation of downstream sector would end condemnation by some Nigerians who were against the policy.

He suggested that the Federal Government should partner the mass media in carrying out such sensitisation campaigns.

Abdullahi said that President Mohammad Buhari had good intention for the country, hence the need for the governed to be fully informed of government’s decision, especially as it directly affected them.

He said that Nigerians were patiently waiting for the dividends of the “Change” mantra of the current administration.

Abdullahi called government to ensure availability of petroleum products across the country.

He also appealed to government to sanction marketers found selling the product above the official price. (NAN)
