Abuja – The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Babachir Lawal, has commended the Chinese Government for supporting the Federal Government in projects implementation across the country.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by Mr Bolaji Adebiyi, Director of Press in the Office of the SGF.
The statement said that the SGF gave the commendation when he received the Chinese Charge d’Affair in Nigeria, Mr Quin Jian ion her office in Abuja.
“Nigeria appreciates immensely, the good relations between the two countries, but I must say that adequate transfer of technology is critical.
“Precisely, I urge the Chinese authorities to ensure that as the projects are completed, Nigerians should be properly trained to take-over and manage them,” the statement quoted the SGF as saying.
It said the SGF also urged the Chinese authorities to ensure that spare parts were made available at all times to sustain the maintenance of installed facilities.
It added that Lawal said that Chinese products were of the highest quality when measured against global standards and cautioned against the importation of sub-standard goods into Nigeria.
The statement stated that the Chinese envoy had earlier told the SGF that Nigeria was considered as the most strategic partner to China in Africa, adding that the Nigeria/China relationship had become closer in the last 10 years.
According to the statement, Nigeria, with the largest population in Africa and being the largest economy in the continent, has the potential to become a world power.
“The Chinese Government appreciates the focus of the present administration in the areas of improving security, fighting corruption and reviving the economy,” the statement quoted Jian as saying. (NAN)
