Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi condemns Kano Mosque bomb blast, calls for self defence

BAUCHI – A Bauchi-based Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, has condemned the Friday Kano Central Mosque bomb blast and killings, and called on the people to defend themselves.
Bauchi made the assertion on Tuesday in Bauchi while offering special prayer for the repose of the souls of the victims of the Kano attack in Bauchi.
He described those that lost their lives in the attack as martyrs and prayed for quick recovery of the injured ones currently receiving treatment in various health facilities in Kano.
The Islamic scholar, who commiserated with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamodo-Sanusi, the government and people of Kano State also urged the people to protect themselves against enemies.
He said “in Islamic law, if someone attacked you with a weapon and in defence, you seized his or her weapon and succeeded in killing him or her, there is no judgment and you are martyr.’’
He then urged the association of hunters in the north eastern states that were being ravaged by insurgents to cooperate with the military to protect the people.
He called on the local security agents attached to various Mosques and other places of worship to be more vigilant.
He added that “we heard that some politicians were responsible for the escalation of the senseless killings in the North so that there would be insecurity in the country in order not to conduct the 2015 elections so that they would remain in power.
“I want to advise Muslims and non-Muslims too, to intensify prayers and to protect themselves in order to put a halt to the incessant killings in the country.” (NAN)
