Sokoto – Alhaji Mohammadu Mannir, Sokoto State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs and Community Development, on Wednesday tasked the newly sworn-in local government chairmen to embark on people-oriented projects that would improve on their communal well-being .
Mannir told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in Sokoto shortly after a closed door meeting with the 23 local government chairmen that they draw a blue print of development programmes to ensurethe execution of meaningful projects at the grassroots level.
He said the ministry would not tolerate ,corruption ,indiscipline and unnecessary travel without due permission .
” You are expected to plan a developmental programme that would provide democratic dividend for the rural populace ” he said.
He advised them to accord priority to water supply, health care delivery, education,agriculture, road construction and job creation for the teaming unemployed youths.
He said the desired political change would only be possible through the execution of meaningful projects that would improve the living condition of the governed .( NAN)
