LAGOS – One of the country’s leading male squash players, Sodiq Taiwo, said on Wednesday the only way players could get the much needed exposure was through viable sponsorship.
Taiwo said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
The ace squash player spoke against the backdrop of the just concluded Lagos International Squash Classics, which held from Nov. 3 to Nov. 8 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
“What you need to understand is that all these things start from sponsorship; it is not as if players do not have the skills; they do.
“They have the strength, they have the spirit, but they need to go out for tournaments more often and they need to train with different players, not Nigerian players.
“Playing against different kind of players can help them improve their games; so a lot needs to come from sponsorship. (NAN)
