, who said this during an inspection tour of the facility which is still under construction, said the project would benefit both the state and the country when completed.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the stadium, when completed, would have two standard football pitches and a five-star hotel.
It will also have a football academy, a Women and Youths Development Centre, an Orthopedic Hospital and a Games Village.
The governor said he was satisfied with the choice of investment which was in line with his administration’s agenda on youth empowerment through sports.
“The stadium which will have a similar look with those in Europe when completed will employ a good number of citizens of the state and pull youths off the streets.
“But I want to urge wealthy citizens of the state to take a cue from Ubah and invest in the state. My administration will continue to provide a conducive environment for private investors to thrive.’’
He said the state’s land belonged to the government and his government would always make it available to investors based on agreed terms.
The club’s Chairman, Ifeanyi Ubah, said the investment was necessitated by the Obiano-led government’s friendly disposition to private investors as well as the assured secured environment created by the government.
Ubah noted that previous administrations in the state did well but not enough to attract the kind of interest that propelled him to embark on the venture.
He urged the state government to continue to protect private investment, saying he was determined to see to the timely completion of the project.(NAN)
