Zaria (Kaduna State)- A Clergy, Rev. Isaac Gbadero of First Baptist Church, Zaria, on Thursday said the success of the 2015 general elections depended on the ability Muslims and Christians to tolerate each other during the polls.
Gbadero said this in a Christmas message in Zaria, Kaduna State.
He said the tolerance and understanding of followers of the two religions would facilitate attainment of a hitch-free general elections.
He also said that the fear of God should be the guiding principles of the nation’s politicians if the country must prosper.
“Fear of God should be the guiding principles. Politicians should try as much as they can to play politics with fear of God.
“The electorate too must have the fear of God in electing credible leaders not for the sake of money, religion or ethnicity.
“Political and spiritual leaders must understand that whatever we do on earth, one day, we will go back to God and give account,” he said.
Gbadero appealed to leaders to always do the right thing, saying that a leader should not represent his class, clique, religion or tribe but to represent God.
The Clergy said the essence of Christmas was to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ and to share the message of peace and love.
“The Book of Luke chapter 2(8) says the heavens opened and the Angels spoke; they said peace and love unto all men.
“The scripture told us that peace and love is not only to those who go to Church but for all men. Therefore, we must reconcile and see everything in the light of Christ,” he said. (NAN)
