Malumfashi (Katsina State) – Residents of Hayin-Mishan in Malumfashi local government headquarters of Katsina State, were thrown into mourning on Friday following the killing of a popular beans cake fryer, Malama Madine Maigoro, by suspected gang of thieves.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident occurred on Thursday evening.
The suspected thieves took advantage of the windstorm and heavy rain that fell in the town between 4 pm to 9 pm on the fateful day to commit the crime.
NAN Correspondent who visited the area gathered that the deceased, who conducted her business close to her house, had numerous customers especially during the Ramadan fasting period.
NAN gathered that the deceased sold one of her houses located at Bisije in Malumfashi for N2 million and was paid cash on the fateful day.
Malam Ibrahim Mai’aski, a neighbour of the deceased told NAN on Friday that the suspected thieves trailed the deceased after the money was paid for the property.
He said the suspects took advantage of the weather condition to gain entrance into the compound of the deceased.
He said that the deceased might have struggled with the thieves and shouted for help for some moment before she was overpowered.
According to Mai’aski, the thieves used a metallic object to stab the deceased on her chest and neck which led to her death.
He said that Garba the son of the deceased met his mother in pool of her blood after scaling the fence to enter the house as the thieves locked the gate before they perpetrated the dastardly act.
When contacted the deceased husband, Maigoro Bakanike and her son who were in tears could not respond to questions posed to them by newsmen.
Efforts by NAN to contact Mr Aminu Sadiq, the Police Pubic Relations Officer (PPRO) Katsina State Command, failed as he did no answer p calls nor respond to text message sent to his mobile phone. (NAN)
