ABUJA – Chika Chukwmerije, a member of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF), on Tuesday said the federation has exceeded its 2014 target in spite of faucity of funds.
Chukwumerije said this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
“In 2014, our target was achieved because we targeted five medals for the Commonwealth Games and we got 10.
“We also took some athletes abroad for training, and took part in the World Championships.
“This goes a long way to say that the federation achieved its target for 2014,’’ Chukwumerije said.
He said that the NTF board had met and set target for 2015, and also articulated ways to surpass the gains made during the year.
“We will come out with a position paper on our vision for 2015 and will make it known soon,’’ he said.
According to him, the federation has commenced preparations for the 2015 world championships, coming up between Sept. 16 and Sept. 23 in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk. (NAN)
