Tailor bags 4 months imprisonment for stealing cell phone

Kuje – A Kuje Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday, sentenced a 24-year-old tailor, Michael Abila, to four months imprisonment for stealing a Techno cell phone valued at N70, 000.
Abila, a resident of Paseli area of Kuje, was jailed on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft.
The Judge, Abdulahi Abdulkareem, however, gave the convict an option to pay N20,000 fine.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Samuel Ocheche, told the court that one Daniel Azaki, the complainant and barber who resides at Quarters area, reported the matter at Kuje Police Station on Feb. 20.
Ocheche said Abila criminally entered the complainant’s barbing shop and made away with his cell phone, valued at N70,000.
He said that during police investigation, Abila admitted to have committed the offence, and the cell phone was recovered from him.
The prosecutor added that the offences contravened Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
