Task force confiscates N1.5m fake drugs in Gombe

GOMBE – The National Association of Patent Medicine Dealers (NAPMED) in Gombe state said on Monday that has recovered substandard, expired and fake drugs worth N1.5 million from its members.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
The Chairman of the association in the state, Malam Salisu Abdulaziz, told the News Agency of Nigeria[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″] (NAN) in Gombe that the products were recovered in the last quarter of 2014.
Abdulaziz said the seizure was carried out by the tax force set up by the association.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
He said the materials would soon be handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for destruction.

substandard drugs to the association’s tax force.
He said there was improvement in their members’ compliance to the campaign when compared to first, second and third quarters of 2014.
“The issue of substandard, fake and expired drugs has drastically reduced in the Gombe state.
“In the First, second and third quota, our tax force seized drugs from members worth N3 to 4 million,” he said.
The chairman called on members of the association to always sell standard approved drugs to members of the public and urged the public to always patronise approved medicine stores. (NAN)
