Lagos – The Nigeria Para-Badminton Federation on Wednesday appealed to corporate bodies and individuals with passion for persons with disabilities to partner with it to feature at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
The federation’s appeal follows the approval for the inclusion of Badminton and games for the disabled in the next Paralympic Games in 2020 in Japan by the International Paralympic Committee.
It said in a statement by Samuel Ekeoma, the federation’s President that the partnership would ensure such organisations were made brands to promote their companies from 2016 to 2020 national and international competitions.
“I appeal to our partners and individual with passion for persons with disabilities to kindly come to our aid.
“We will ensure proper branding and promotion of their companies in our 2016 to 2020 national and international games,’’ it said.
The statement said that the president expressed optimism that with necessary support, the federation would win laurels for the country in international meets.
NAN reports that the first ever National Para-Badminton Championships took place in Umuahia, Abia in 2014 with seven states participating.
The statement said that the second edition was held in the same state with 12 states from the six geo political zones taking part. (NAN)
