ENUGU – Mr Tony Nzekwe, General Manager, Enugu State Tourism Board, on Sunday urged residents to take advantage of the tourist sites in the coal city state to relieve themselves of pressures and stress.
Nzekwe, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu, described the state as Nigeria’s foremost tourist destination.
Counting the tourist sites, Nzekwe, said the state was endowed with ecotourism sites that was of people delight.
He said that one of the constraints suffered by the board in its efforts to boost tourism was lack of infrastructures particularly, good road network.
Nzekwe, however, commended Gov. Sullivan Chime for the construction of good roads which, he said, had opened up the hinterland where most of the tourist sites were located.
“Most of the tourist attractions we have in Enugu State are located within the rural communities and access roads are of importance.
“We have Awhum Water Falls and Cave in Udi town, Ngwo Pine Forest, Cave and Waterfalls, Ezeagu Tourist Complex, Ogbagada River, Iheneke Lake, Opi Lake System and Akwuke Attakwu beach among others.
“I can’t begin to count them, it is better experienced than imagined; we also have Silicon Hill, Isi-Ugwu Obukpa Rock Shelter, Nike Lake Resort, why not come and see for yourself,” he told NAN.
He said that the ministry was doing everything possible to keep the Adanma Cultural Troupe alive.
Nzekwe said the troupe had travelled widely to showcase the rich culture and traditions of Enugu State. (NAN)
