IBADAN – Mr Ayodele Salako, the Chairman, Bee-keepers’ Association, Oyo State branch, has called on all tiers of government to train youths in bee keeping, to reduce unemployment in the country.
Making the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Tuesday, Salako said that such training would provide livelihood and empower unemployed youths.
He observed that current honey production in the country was inadequate to meet the needs of the populace, hence the need for more hands to boost production.
‘’I am imploring government at all levels to train and empower youths in bee keeping.
‘’Such training will sensitise and enhance their capabilities in making ends meet.”
The chairman explained that the shortage of experts in honey production gave rise to the production of fake honey.
He appealed to the government and other stakeholders to support efforts at making the youths to be self-reliant through training in meaningful vocations. (NAN)
