Abuja – The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) says its collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) to ensure that only qualified teachers are recruited was yielding positive rsults.
The Registrar of the council, Prof Josiah Ajiboye, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.
“Let me also put on record the collaboration between TRCN and the NUT, Nigerian Union of Teachers.
“This collaboration is already yielding positive fruits and we believe very strongly that with this collaboration, TRCN is going to rise up again, because the leadership of the NUT has really embraced TRCN as their own baby and they have stated that they are going to make sure that TRCN does not die and make sure that TRCN continue to attain its enviable position and to make sure that teacher professionalism is entrenched in this country.’’
Ajiboye said that the council had keyed into the N-Power programme to ensuring that only TRCN certified people are recruited to teach in primary schools and as extension workers in the country.
“Our position is that when this is going to be done, only those who are qualified, registered and licensed by the TRCN will be considered by the government for employment into the teaching profession.’’
