Lagos – A tricycle rider, Emmanuel Adeyemi, was on Thursday brought before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court for breaking the traffic law and driving recklessly on the highway.
The 27-year-old is to be tried on a three-count charge of failing to obey traffic laws, causing injury and driving without a licence.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Police Prosecutor, Hafsat Ajibode, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 20 on Herbert Macaulay Way, Sabo, Yaba.
She said that Adeyemi had failed to stop when the traffic light turned red and rammed into a Toyota Sienna with Registration No. CV 45 FST, driven by one Oreoluwa.
The accused is also alleged to have been driving without a valid drivers’ licence.
The offences, Ajibode noted, contravened Sections 7 and 19(1) of the Road Traffic Law of Lagos State, 2012.
The Magistrate, Mrs Helen Omisore, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
Further hearing in the matter was adjourned until Oct. 3. (NAN)
