Abuja – The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Tor Uja, has told affluent Christians to curb their ostentatious living and reflect on how to make Nigeria great.
Uja gave the advice at a leadership meeting of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria on Friday in Abuja.
He also advised Christians to invest in the development of the younger generation so that they would be productive to the nation.
“I want Christians to reduce the tendency of sending their children abroad to reduce foreign trips that are not necessary.
“I want Nigerians to build the nation on principles, values and virtues not just on mundane issues of wealth and positions,’’ the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quotes Uja as saying.
“Structural development issues will help our youths to be made independent and productive rather than sitting down in one place.
“The Pentecostal church can raise itself by providing leadership, engaging some of its funds more in the development of young people so that they will be productive.’’
Uja also urged Christians to make up their minds and be part of the country’s leadership by sourcing for resources to generate productivity that would help change Nigeria.
“I want Christians to make up their minds to be part of the leadership of Nigeria and to look for sources to change Nigeria.
“I believe that we have a chance if we all come together as a nation by next year Nigeria we will not only bounce back but we will move forward.
“The solution of our situation is to find ways of earning foreign income, get ways of generating productivity and then find ways of strengthening the economy through wise spending.’’
Uja told members of the Pentecostal church to be at the forefront of pilgrimage activities because they had the ability to influence the cause of evangelism around the world, instead of restricting themselves.
“I find the Pentecostal church one of the most notable pillars in the development of Nigeria in the area of evangelism around the world, instead of locking themselves in the country.
“I will like the Pentecostal church to be in the forefront of pilgrimage activity in Nigeria because they have the capacity and ability to influence the cause of things.
