Lagos, – An unemployed man, Taofeek Alabi, on Tuesday appeared before a Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square for allegedly stealing a phone from a pedestrian.
Alabi, whose residential address was not provided, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him by Lagos State Government.
According to Lagos State counsel, Mr Olayemi Shofolu, the defendant and others at large committed the offences on March 23 at Iyana Oworoshoki, Lagos State.
Shofolu alleged that the defendant conspired with the others to rob one Miss Omotola Ekundayo of an android phone worth N25, 000.
He said that the defendant accosted Ekundayo, the complainant, on her way home and took her phone, in contravention of
Sections 299 and 298 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Justice Yetunde Adesanya adjourned the case until Jan. 25, 2023 for trial. (NAN)
