The royal consultation visit of Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, Friday became a royal endorsement as the paramount ruler of Uyo and Chairman, Uyo Traditional Rulers Council, Edidem Surveyor Silas Akpan and members of his council rose to adopt the PDP candidate as the next governor of Akwa Ibom State.
At a colourful ceremony held at the palace of the paramount ruler in Ikot Idung Ikono village in Ikono Ibom clan of Uyo Local Government Area, the royal fathers comprising village heads, clan heads, advisory council and the paramount ruler of Uyo, described Udom Emmanuel as the most qualified person to occupy the hilltop mansion.
“Udom Emmanuel is experienced and capable to perform creditably in Akwa Ibom and we the royal fathers have proudly endorsed him as our own son”, Edidem Silas said.
In his speech, the paramount ruler of Uyo who is also the Chairman, Supreme Council of Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers, said he was confident that the PDP governorship candidate will sustain the tempo of transformation witnessed in the State when he becomes governor, and charged him to attract government presence to all parts of Uyo local government area especially in some rural parts of the State capital which he said were lacking behind in terms of provision of basic amenities.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Edidem Advisory council, Obong Simeon Umoette, a retired Comptroller of Customs, reiterated the desire of the people of Uyo to cast their votes for the PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and his running mate, Mr. Moses Ekpo, because of their pedigree and the promises fo the state.
Also his credence to the endorsement, the clan head of Offot Ukwa, Etebom Sylvanus Okon, while assuring Udom of victory at the polls urged him to accord Uyo a special attention in his scheme of things, pointing out that Uyo was confident that the incoming governor will reciprocate the support.

Addressing the stakeholders, the governorship hopeful said he was on a consultation visit to the landlords of the State capital to further intimate them on his intention to lead the State as Governor in the next democratic dispensation, while thanking them for the warm reception accorded him and members of his entourage, Mr. Udom Emmanuel who said he was touched by the plight of the residents in Ikono Ibom clan and other yet-to-be transformed communities in Uyo, pledged to attract development to those areas.
He vowed to construct roads in the areas to link up to other parts of the State capital.
The governorship hopeful also promised to segment Uyo into what he called development blocs in order to fast track the transformation of areas yet to be touched.
Also speaking, a former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Chief Nduese Essien and the Deputy Director General of the Director-General, Udom/Moses campagn organisation, Mr. Benji Udobia in their separate remarks, said the decision to produce the next governor from Eket Senatorial District was borne out the need to ensure equity, fairness and justice and above all to maintain peaceful co-existence in the State.
They described Udom as a seasoned technocrat who will harness his potentials in creating opportunities in the State.
They royal fathers later raised Udom’s Emmanuel’s hands alongside that of his running mate, Mr Moses Ekpo, and presented him with a symbolic sword of victory.
