Abuja – Mr Simon Dolly, President, Christian Youth For Peace and Development Initiative (CYPADI), on Tuesday advised youths to avoid social vices that could tarnish their families’ image and ruin their life.
Dolly gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on the occasion to commemorate the Valentine day.
According to him, some youths in the country have a wrong conception of the day as some use the day to engage in negative acts.
“If you love your country and family, you will not want to do anything that will tarnish the image of your country and family.
“Youths in the country should be more patriotic and believe in their country and support government at all levels for the overall development of the nation,” he said.
He, however, advised couples to use the day to renew their vows.
Dolly said love should be shown every day apart from the day set aside for showing love.
He said Valentine was a day that signifies love and appreciates loved ones and those one may have quarreled with, adding it’s a time of forgiveness.
NAN reports that the Saint Valentine Day is an annual commemoration held on Feb. 14 globally to celebrate love and affection.
The day was named after Saint Valentine and established by Pope Gelasius 1in 500 A.D.
