Addressing the audience at Tansian University’s Convocation Ceremony, Valentine Ozigbo, a prominent figure in the Labour Party and a leading candidate for the Governorship in Anambra State, emphasized the importance of active citizenship in overcoming Nigeria’s challenges.

In his speech titled ‘Redeeming Ourselves: A Call for True Citizenship,’ Ozigbo urged Nigerians to recognize their power to shape the future and make a positive impact on society. He stressed that faithful citizenship involves more than just enjoying rights; it requires taking responsibility for past mistakes and committing to a better future.

Ozigbo emphasized the role of citizens in holding government and leaders accountable, stating that society thrives when leaders operate with integrity and transparency. He encouraged citizens to stand up for justice, advocate for the voiceless, and work tirelessly to build a society that reflects their highest ideals.

Addressing the graduating students, Ozigbo emphasized the importance of responsible citizenship and urged them to use their knowledge and skills to contribute to the progress of the nation. He advised them to prioritize values over quick financial gains and reminded them that hard work and patience are key to success.

In conclusion, Ozigbo called on the graduates to embrace their role as active citizens and work towards creating a society based on dignity, justice, and equality. He emphasized that their contribution to nation-building is not only crucial but also their purpose in life.
