Vice-President Kashim Shettima’s planned representation of President Bola Tinubu at a Summit in Dallas, Texas was called off due to a technical fault in the presidential aircraft.
Scheduled to attend the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit organized by the Corporate Council on Africa, Shettima’s absence was confirmed by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of The Vice-President. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will now represent the President at the Summit.
Nkwocha elaborated that the Vice President, upon the advice of the Presidential Air Fleet, decided to make a detour due to the technical issue. Despite this setback, Shettima will continue with his other national duties.
The high-profile summit aims to facilitate discussions and networking opportunities among political and business leaders from Africa, the United States, and other regions. Notable African leaders expected to attend include the Presidents of Liberia, Malawi, and Angola, among others.
The US-Africa Business Summit serves as a platform to enhance economic cooperation and explore investment prospects between the United States and African nations.
