ABUJA – The West African Power Industry Convention (WAPIC) will honour leading utility and energy professionals at its annual convention slated for Nov. 18 and Nov. 19, according to a statement.
The statement, issued by the Communication Manager of WAPIC, Mrs Annemarie Roodbol, in Abuja on Saturday, noted that the event would hold in Lagos.
It quoted Roodbol as saying that the WAPIC award was designed to celebrate the West African triumphs and successes of the industry in the last year.
She said the industry would nominate candidates in seven award categories, including Lifetime Achievement Award to an outstanding woman in power.
She added that the winner would be honoured at a five-star gala event during the convention, noting that “WAPIC’s Programme Director, Irene Ochem, will celebrate the success and the loyalty of our event participants during the past 11 years.
“We are proud to launch the awards, which recognises excellence within the power sector and rewards companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to the industry,’’ she stated.
The communication manager stated that Mr Tony Elumelu, an investment guru and philanthropist, would head the high-level list of power experts to address the year’s WAPIC.
