If help does not come quick enough, the Nigerian entertainment industry may lose yet another star to the cold hands of death.
Famous Nigerian actor, model and television personality, Leonard Chimezie Onyemaechi, popularly known as Leo Mezie, is at the moment going through severe pains as a result of his kidney problem.
Signs of his health situation first popped up in 2015 but after a while, it was widely reported that the Umuahia, Abia State-born actor was miraculously healed.
But a recent statement from his medical doctor traces the handsome actor’s kidney disease and emphasises that Leo needs urgent help to live.
According to Doctor T. I Umezudike, a consultant Nephrologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Leo was first seen at the Nephrology clinic of LASUTH in July 2016.
The medical expert said the actor had clinical and biochemical features of acute kidney injury. Leo commenced dialysis promptly and after three months his kidney function stabilised and he stopped dialysis.
The doctor added that Leo was on regular clinic follow up till May 2018 when his kidney function worsened again.
“At this time an assessment of end stage kidney disease (ESKD) was made. He has been counselled to have a kidney transplant as a definitive treatment for the end stage kidney disease,” said the medical consultant.
