Former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has disclosed that his once harmonious relationship with predecessor Peter Odili has turned frosty due to “political differences.”
In a recent interaction with journalists in Abuja, Wike, now serving as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), acknowledged the shift in their political dynamics, noting that they no longer collaborate as they once did.
While Wike had previously hailed Odili as his political mentor, he indicated that recent developments have led to a divergence in their political paths. Although Wike refrained from elaborating on the specifics of their differences, he affirmed that despite the discord, he still respects Odili as a father figure.
The rift between Wike and Odili may be linked to ongoing political tensions within Rivers State, particularly concerning the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara, who faces impeachment threats. Wike expressed disdain for PDP leaders who rallied behind Fubara, referring to them as “political buccaneers” and asserting their irrelevance in party matters.
Wike singled out figures like Abiye Sekibo, Uche Secondus, Celestine Omehia, and Austin Opara, dismissing them as expired politicians who no longer hold sway in PDP affairs. He reiterated that Secondus, in particular, had been ousted from the party due to a court-validated suspension.
