Presiding Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel International, has strongly criticized fraudsters, particularly those involved in internet scams known as “Yahoo Boys,” cautioning that their path leads only to ruin.
During a sermon at Canaanland on Sunday, Bishop Oyedepo urged young people to abide by the law and shun fraudulent activities. He specifically condemned the practice of obtaining people’s ATM card details and other forms of online fraud, warning that such endeavors ultimately result in bitterness and destruction.
Addressing the congregation, Bishop Oyedepo emphasized that engaging in fraudulent activities is incompatible with a prosperous future, especially within the context of spiritual principles. He urged individuals involved in such activities to cease their actions and embrace lawful endeavors, promising that adherence to ethical conduct would lead to lasting success.
This condemnation echoes sentiments expressed by other religious leaders, including Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries, who previously denounced internet fraudsters as nothing more than thieves. In a sermon delivered in 2022, Pastor Ibiyeomie emphasized that those engaged in fraudulent schemes would face consequences and find no peace due to their exploitation of others.
