Gashua (Yobe) – Senator representing Yobe North, Ahmad Lawan (APC ), on Saturday, distributed 500 Direct Entry forms to prospective candidates of tertiary institutions in six local government areas of the state.
Presenting the forms in Gashua to candidates from his constituency comprising Bade, Nguru, Machina, Karasuwa, Yusufari and Jakusko Local Government areas, Ahmed said the gesture was aimed at helping indigent students.
He pledged to facilitate the registration of all successful candidates among the 500 beneficiaries.
“We will provide funds for their JAMB registration as well as registration for all those who secured admission into tertiary institutions,” he said.
The legislator said the assistance was designed to complement government’s efforts in developing the education sector in Yobe North Senatorial district and the state in general.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the assistance was rendered under the Sen. Ahmad Lawan Education Development Foundation.
Lawan, who is also the chairman Senate Committee on Defence, lamented the backwardness of the state in the area of education, saying the foundation was determined to invest in educational development of youth for a brighter future.
Alhaji Adamu Dala-Dogo, Speaker Yobe House of Assembly, commended the lawmaker for his effort in assisting indigent students and their families and urged other legislators to emulate him. (NAN)
