Bwari (FCT) – Mr Peter Galadima, Community Youth Leader of Peyi in Bwari, FCT, on Friday urged the Federal Government to review Nigeria’s Constitution, to give priority to youth development.
Galadima gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bwari.
He commended government’s crusade against corruption, but noted that it should place the youth at the front burner of its policies to ensure sustainable growth.
He urged the government to involve youths in key roles in the current administration to ensure youth development.
Galadima said youths had not been recognised and clearly defined in the government.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“Government should review the constitution to include roles for youths, to strengthen the nation’s democratic process through inclusive participation.
“The idea to pay people N5,000 in the bid to tackle youth unemployment is not enough; we are always seen as a liability and as an asset to the country.
“It is now left for governments at this point in time to bring youths together and ensure there is a constitutional provision for us to contribute our quota to move Nigeria forward.
“This is why government must review the nation’s constitution to create room for youth development.”
According to him, it should provide for people of 18 years and above to have the right to be voted for.
“It is the way forward to make young people relevant in governance process,” he said. (NAN)
