Sokoto – Mr Salisu Fagge, Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State, on Tuesday said the command was ready to ensure a peaceful environment for the Yuletide and New Year festivities.
Fagge told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that preparations were already on top gear in all the areas and divisions of the state to ensure adequate security during the festivities.
“Area commanders and divisional police officers across the state have been briefed on various security measures to be adopted in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
“Plain clothed security personnel would be deployed to public places to monitor the conduct and behaviour of residents,’’ he said.
The commissioner disclosed that divisional police officers across the 23 local government areas had been directed to provide adequate security in all public gatherings in their areas.
“We will continue to provide a peaceful atmosphere that will enable our people to conduct all festivities without hindrance or dismay,’’ he said.
Fagge said the command would continue to sensitise, introduce, and implement security measures that would engender a safe environment for residents before, during and after the celebrations.
