Zambia’s government sets mining royalty tax at 9 pct

LUSAKA  – Zambia’s has approved proposals to the country’s royalty tax rate for open cast and underground mining at 9 percent, a government statement issued on said.

Africa’s -largest copper producer will also charge corporate income tax on mining operations at 30 percent, while mineral processing will attract a tax of 35 percent when the law takes effect on July 1, according to the statement.
