Abuja – IGP Queens basketball club of Abuja on Friday secured a 59-53 victory over Sunshine Angels of Akure in the 12th Zenith Bank National Women Basketball League.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Group B game which ended 59-53 at the National Stadium is one of the matches in the league’s Phase One.
IGP’s victory was however hard-earned as they could only beat the Sunshine Angels in extra time, after both sides had ended 53-53 points at regulation time.
The game was interrupted in the third quarter by power outage for about three hours, and could have had an effect on play.
Indeed, Bello Fisayo, the Sunshine Angels coach, said the power outage affected the psyche of his players.

“Halfway into the match we had to stop because there was no power, and after waiting for a very long time, the players lost the tempo,’’ he said.
The coach nonetheless said he was comfortable with the result of the match because his players fought hard.
In other matches played in the day, former league champions First Deepwater of Lagos lost 38-43 to Delta Force of Asaba.
Also, Oluyole Babes of Ibadan defeated Zamfara Babes of Gusau 49-39.
NAN reports that the league’s phase one, which began on Saturday, will end on Sunday.(NAN)
