AKURE – Two men, Michael Friday, 23, and Adeleye Oluwaseun, 20 , charged with conspiracy and armed robbery were on Wednesday remanded in prison custody by an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court.The accused, along with others, now at large, were alleged to have robbed one Fanika Kole of his unregistered red Bajaj motorcycle valued at N116,000, using a locally made axe.
Chief Magistrate Charity Adeyanju ordered the remand of the accused in prison custody pending the receipt of legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecution.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Adesgun Adeoye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 3 at about 8 p.m. at Akinwolere Street in Ondo, Ondo State.
The offences, he said, were contrary to and punishable under Sections 6(a)(b), 2(1) (a and b) and 5 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap R11 Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The court did not take the plea of the accused in spite of the efforts made by their counsel, Mr Femi Adetoye.
The case was adjourned untill July 7. (NAN)
