Dutse – Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa, on Thursday called on religious and traditional rulers to organise special prayers on Friday for continued peace and tranquility in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Hajiya Furera Abdullahi, and made available to newsmen in Dutse.
The statement said the prayers were part of activities to mark the state’s 24th Anniversary celebration.
“As Jigawa celebrates its 24th Anniversary of creation today, the Executive Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru, on behalf of the people of the state, wishes to express his gratitude to Allah for seeing the state through these years.
“He enjoined our traditional and religious leaders to offer special prayers on Friday for the continued peace, tranquility and socio-economic development to prevail in the state.
“As we clock 24, the governor also solicits for prayers from our friends and well wishers at home and diaspora for peaceful coexistence with which the state is blessed,” the statement said.

“I call on the people of the state to persevere with us as we gradually initiate and implement policies and programmes geared toward the development of the state.
The statement quoted the governor as saying “the policies and programmes are also geared toward providing gainful employment to the youth as well as to improve the socio-economic well being of the people”.
It further commended the previous administrations for their contributions in taking the state to its present level.
“I wish to register on behalf of good people of the state, my heartfelt appreciation to previous administrations for their contributions in taking the state to the present level,” the statement said.
It also noted that the support and contribution of all and sundry were instrumental to the development witnessed in the state since its creation in 1991.
“The governor noted with appreciation, the support and contributions of all and sundry which is instrumental to the development witnessed by the state.
“This, did not only place the state on its peers, but also availed the citizens the opportunity to utilise it and their potentials for its development,” the governor said. (NAN)
