ILAWE (EKITI STATE) – The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Ekiti State on Tuesday distributed equipment to 50 graduates it trained under its community-based scheme.
The State Coordinator, Mrs Adeola Shafaru, said at Ilawe at a graduation ceremony that the beneficiaries had undergone a three-month vocational training.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the youths were trained in event management, tailoring, telephone repairs, bead, soap as well as tie and dye (adire) making.
They received equipment such as sewing machines, generators, tools, oven and baking cartons.
Shafaru commended the beneficiaries for their commitment to the programme in a bid to make them self-employed.
The NDE boss urged them to make good use of the equipment and strive to contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of their communities.
Miss Adebayo Yemisi, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the agency for empowering them.
She expressed the hope that beneficiaries would use the tools to earn a living.(NAN)
