Effective, relevant, and positive leadership are all required for steering individuals and communities towards perseverance, resilience, strength and courage needed in the face of challenges and potential adversities. Well meaning, well placed, truth based religion can be a catalyst to restore a sense of purpose, hope, values and ethics. Religion done right can provide a moral compass and the innate spiritual guidance to find our way.
The essence and ingredients of such an outcome need the following items:
The right and good foundation – The truth is there is wrong and right, distinct and clear. Moral principles that prioritise the wellbeing of people and communities is the only right foundation. It ensures and encourages ethical behaviour, and promotes healthy unification and adequate mutual support. It removes the dominance factor that bad and unhealthy practices can foster. Good, truth based religion can bring good, truth based unification.
Meaningful, healthy purpose – Good religious values can restore a sense of hope and draw on enduring values that lead to substantial wholesome goals. It rises above and exposes evil so much so that most can clearly see its harm and resist it for the broader good. It enthrones endurance and resilience towards good in the face os blatant challenges.
Community support and mobilisation – Religion of truth and love can gather, moblise and empower communities using prayer groups, congregants, fellowships and more. The impact is the same in the most rural of interiors to the most vibrant of cities. Public squares become true public spaces, dimensions of leadership are showcased as wisdom spread, people are empowered as they trust in truth and hold each other accountable. Suddenly the people cannot be deceived – collective action, mutual assistant and emotional assistance prevail. Life is lived thoroughly in spite of the challenges and eventually the people overcome
Framework for existential questions – Good, moral, truth based religious teachings can be the gamechanger. They can make spirit of what appears senseless, resolve moral dilemmas, navigate adversity to bring solace and eventually deliver a calm that withstands the storm. They can cause a tremendous number of people to be saved, yes saved in every way.
You see when effective, relevant, positive and truth based religion converges on leadership, transformation happens and societies are strengthened, empowered and excel. That is what the land and the people yearn for. So I wish and bequeath to us all good leadership
