Abuja – A businessman, John Dee, who allegedly removed a police exhibit – a bulldozer — from an accident scene without police permission, was on Tuesday charged before a Lugbe Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja.
The court, however, slammed a bail of N200, 000 on the accused with a surety in like sum.
The Judge, Mr Garba Ogbede, said the surety should show evidence of a reasonable means of livelihood and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
The 39-year-old accused, who resides at Giri Gaitia Village in Gwagwalada, Abuja, is charged with causing the disappearance of an exhibit from an accident scene.
Dee, however, denied the charge.

Earlier, Prosecutor Ukaoha Ndidi told the court that a load-loader with registration no. XB 952 LFA belonging to the accused, carried a bulldozer from Gwarimpa to Lugbe and in the process, damaged a Honda pilot jeep marked GWA 864 AH at FHA Lugbe.
According to her, the accused went to the scene of the accident and removed the exhibit (bulldozer) without the consent of the police.
The accused was asked to return the bulldozer to the police since Nov. 8, 2015 for further investigation, but he refused, Ndidi said.
She said the offence contravened Section 167 of the Penal Code, Laws of the Federation.
Further hearing in the case was adjourned to Feb. 2. (NAN)
