Acting DG Of NABDA Arrested By ICPC Over N400m Fraud

Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC has arrested Mr Akpa, acting Director- (DG) of National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) for allegedly defrauding of N400 million.

Mr Akpa who is a professor of microbiology, was arrested by operatives of commission to answer questions how said amount was misappropriated under watch. He is currently being investigated for abuse of .

was alleged that the Acting DG of NABDA claimed the money he diverted was an intervention for the biotechnology agency and he allegedly shared the money with management staff of the agency.

The commission said the offence committed by Akpan whose appointment came in June, is contrary to and punishable under sections 19 and 26 of the Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Act, 2000.
